About Course
This week introduces the fundamental principles of nursing, with a focus on understanding and respecting cultural diversity in patient care. Students will explore strategies for providing culturally competent care, ensuring patients’ legal rights are upheld, and understanding key ethical concepts such as confidentiality and informed consent. Leadership and management principles are also covered, providing insight into delegation, prioritization, and decision-making within healthcare settings.
The module further delves into basic pharmacology, offering an introduction to pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and herbal medicine interactions. Topics such as asepsis, infection control, and safe medication administration are explored, with a special focus on dosage calculation. Additionally, students will learn the importance of monitoring vital signs and laboratory values, nutritional requirements, therapeutic diets, patient positioning, and the performance of common nursing procedures.
